The Lebanese Armed Forces Commander, General Joseph Aoun, received Tuesday the French Minister of Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, in his office in Yarzeh. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two armies.
They then visited the military healthcare, where its Chief, Colonel Dany Bsharaoui, provided an overview of its status, capabilities, needs, and ongoing development projects. They also toured the departments and observed their operations.
Minister Lecornu praised the significant efforts made by the military healthcare personnel and their professionalism in carrying out their duties. He emphasized the priority of supporting the army, particularly military healthcare, given the current challenges.
This visit is part of various initiatives undertaken by the French authorities to provide different forms of assistance to the army and enhance its capabilities, especially in the healthcare field, the Lebanese Army said in a statement.
Earlier, General Joseph Aoun, inspected Monday the 5th Intervention Regiment Command in Kfardebian, where he was briefed on the missions carried out in the context of developments along the southern border.
General Aoun considered the resilience of the regiment’s members and other units deployed in the south in the face of current challenges important for the people of the region, commending their sacrifices and noting that their dedication, along with their comrades, in performing their duties reassured the Lebanese people during the holidays.
After that, General Aoun moved to the Command of the Reserve Unit of the UNIFIL Commander in Deir Kifa, where he also met with the French Minister of Defense, Sébastien Lecornu, who was visiting the unit.
General Aoun praised the efforts of the unit’s members and all UNIFIL personnel, recognizing their professionalism and sacrifices in carrying out their duties. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the army and UNIFIL within the framework of Resolution 1701, especially during the current exceptional circumstances.
