On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, met on Wednesday with a Korean delegation to discuss and follow up on the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and contracts signed between the two sides.
These contracts pertain to equipping the Air Defense Command with modern equipment and supplies. They also discussed implementation phases, delivery timelines, and mechanisms for technical and logistical support, training, and qualification, all of which contribute to enhancing the Command's operational and technical capabilities and raising its level of readiness.
Separately, the Chief of Staff, accompanied by the Director General of Budget and Programs, visited the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, where he was received by the Minister of Finance, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
During the meeting, they discussed several topics related to financial procedures and necessary allocations, as well as strengthening coordination and cooperation mechanisms between the Ministries of Defense and Finance. This aims to streamline procedures related to defense requirements and needs.
Meanwhile, in accordance with the directives of the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, the Deputy Chiefs of Staff for Operations and Logistics held a videoconference on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with their Brazilian counterparts to discuss ways to enhance military cooperation and exchange expertise. This collaboration aims to develop the capabilities of the Iraqi Army and support the requirements of the next phase.
The meeting addressed several important topics of mutual interest, including mechanisms for benefiting from Brazilian expertise and experience in relevant fields, particularly logistical support and securing necessary supplies. The two sides also listened to the requirements of various military branches and formations and worked to meet them according to priorities and actual needs, in line with the requirements for raising efficiency and readiness levels.
