The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) celebrated the graduation of a new batch of recruits at the military parade ground at Ghala Base and the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy.
The event was held under the patronage of Retired Major General Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Manthri, and in the presence of Air Vice Marshal Khamis Hammad Al Ghafri, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman.
The ceremony featured a series of diverse military displays. Then, the graduates chanted the anthem of the Royal Air Force of Oman, took the oath of loyalty, pledged allegiance and proclaimed thrice: “Long live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.”
Outstanding performers of the course were also recognized. Recruit Ali Mohammed Belhaf secured first place overall for the course, Recruit Munthir Musabih Al Ghamlasi achieved top honours in military drill, and Recruit Mohammed Nasser Al Adawi earned first place in light weapons marksmanship.
Meanwhile, the band of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) occupied overall first place in the World Music Competition held in the city of Perth, Scotland, as part of Grade 4B contests.
The RAFO band also won first place in the bagpipe group and second place in the drum group, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The Royal Army of Oman Music Band maintained its excellence at the World Music Contest (WMC) in the city of Perth, Scotland, securing place in the third global level (B), and fourth place in the overall ranking of the third level (A) and (B).
In addition, the RAFO team won the top three places in the individual baton-bearers’ competition, in which Warrant Officer Mohammed bin Khamis Al Amri took first place, followed by Staff Sergeant Mahmoud bin Yousuf Al Sinani in second place, while Captain Humaid bin Sulaiman Al Ghafri occupied third place.
