Kuwait and Pakistan signed a joint defense and military cooperation agreement during the Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah’s visit to Islamabad on Thursday.

During the visit, Sheikh Abdullah met with Pakistan's Minister of Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and the two sides discussed boosting defense and military cooperation between the two countries.

They also discussed regional developments and efforts exerted to promote security and stability in the region, Kuwait Army said in a statement, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The two Ministers signed the cooperation agreement, which constitutes a “significant step in defense and military cooperation between the two countries,” the statement added.

The agreement helps promote operational coordination, exchange of expertise, and Armed Forces’ integration to serve common interests and support regional security and stability, the Army said.

Kuwait Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiaan and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nassar Al-Mutairi attended the signing ceremony.

In another development, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwait Army Major General Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Wednesday attended a live-fire training program conducted by the 94th Saleh Al-Mohammad Mechanized Brigade. The program included a number of scenarios and training missions aimed at enhancing readiness and combat efficiency.

Major General Sabah reviewed the stages of the exercise and the performance of participants, stressing the importance of continuing field training and developing combat capabilities and skills to strengthen the readiness of army units and improve their efficiency.
