On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, attended the graduation ceremony of the 114th class at the First Military College in Rustamiyah.

He was accompanied by the Secretary of Training at the Army Chief of Staff's office and was received by the President of the National Defense University, the Commandant of the College, and staff officers.

The Chief of Staff observed the graduating students’ drills and their readiness to perform various marches, assessing their preparedness and reviewing the remaining logistical and administrative arrangements.

He commended the efforts of those responsible for these prestigious institutions in integrating young talent into the ranks of the Armed Forces, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Earlier, the Chief of Staff chaired a meeting on Sunday to discuss the findings of the fact-finding committee regarding Qayyarah Air Base. The meeting was attended by the Inspector General of the Army, the Commander of the Air Force, the Commander of Qayyarah Air Base, and the heads of the inspection teams within the Air Force.

During the meeting, the committee’s detailed report was reviewed, and key observations concerning administrative, technical, and logistical aspects were discussed. The meeting also assessed the level of performance and the measures taken to ensure the base's readiness and enhance its efficiency. Furthermore, strengths and weaknesses were identified, and solutions were proposed for addressing any shortcomings in operations.

The Chief of Staff emphasized the importance of implementing the committee’s recommendations within the specified timeframes and addressing all observations to enhance combat and administrative readiness. He stressed the necessity of continuing monitoring and evaluation efforts in accordance with the directives of the military leadership aimed at developing the performance of military institutions and improving their operational standards.
