Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs, attended Monday the opening of the 2nd edition of Egypt International Defence and Security Exhibition (EDEX 2021) by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Al Bowardi toured the exhibition and stopped at the UAE Pavilion, which is showcasing the latest products of the Emirati defence industries, UAE news agency WAM reported.

EDEX 2021 is held from 29th November to 2nd December, at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre. EDEX is the largest defense event in Egypt and Africa.

On the exhibition’s sidelines, Al Bowardi met with General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki, Egyptian Defence Minister (photo), Major General Mohamed Ahmed Morsy, Minister of State for Military Production and Nikolaos Chardalias, Greece’s Deputy Minister of National Defence.

He discussed with them ways to enhance defence and military cooperation between the UAE and their respective countries.

Meanwhile, the UAE national pavilion at EDEX is showcasing some 22 national defence and security companies. The pavilion’s size is about 1,600 square metres and is considered one of the largest at the exhibition.

The Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC) leads the contingent of exhibitors with the support and sponsorship of its main partners, the UAE Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Tawazun Economic Council (Tawazun).

Six members of the EDCC are participating at the show, including: Al Hamra, International Golden Group (IGG), Electro Optic Systems (EOS), Cable Corp, Atlas Telecom, Al Fattan Ship Industry and Etimad alongside Tawazun Technology and Innovation (TTI).

Importantly, EDEX provides the opportunity for UAE defence companies to display and promote products and solutions that bear the “Made in the UAE” brand.

Alongside the EDCC, a larger contingent of 13 EDGE entities is also joining the pavilion.

EDGE is showcasing several cutting-edge and new to market products, services, and solutions in the areas of Autonomous Systems, Precision Munitions, Electronic Warfare, Intelligence, Naval Systems, Land Systems, MRO Services, and Training Services.
