Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and Acting Governor of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) Bandar Alkhorayef delivered a lecture at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Command and Staff College of the Ministry of National Guard on military industries, localization and building sustainable national capabilities in Saudi Arabia.

The lecture was attended by the College’s Commander Major General Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Anazi, and several ministry officials.

Alkhorayef reviewed the development of the military industries sector under Saudi Vision 2030, including efforts to localize industries and technologies and build sustainable defense capabilities, strengthening the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strategic autonomy.

He stressed the importance of partnerships in achieving localization targets and highlighted the military sector’s role in driving development, innovation, and national capacity building.

He also praised the Ministry of National Guard’s localization program for promoting greater reliance on domestic capabilities, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) was established by a resolution of the Council of Ministers in August 2017, recognizing the significance of the military industries sector in the Kingdom and its role in national security. This authority serves as the official entity for the sector, tasked with regulation, development, and performance monitoring.

In collaboration with public and private sector partners, GAMI works to support the localization and growth of the military industries sector, increase the capability of national military manufacturing, and contribute to achieving the localization targets by 2030.

The authority’s ultimate goal is to achieve a localization rate of over 50% of the Kingdom’s total military spending by 2030, thereby enhancing the Kingdom’s independence, military readiness, and security. (Sources & Photo © SPA; GAMI)
