Qatar’s Minister of State for Defense Affairs Receives British Chief of Air Staff

Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani met with Chief of the Air Staff of the British Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Harvey Smyth and his accompanying delegation in Doha on Thursday.

During the meeting, they reviewed the latest security developments in the region and discussed aspects of defense cooperation and joint coordination between the two sides.

A number of senior officers and officials from both sides attended the meeting, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Meanwhile, under the patronage and in the presence of Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani and Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, the Qatari Armed Forces celebrated the promotion of several officer cadets and warrant officers in various units to the rank of Second Lieutenant.

A number of senior officers from the Qatari Armed Forces attended the ceremony.

In another development, the State of Qatar, represented by the National Counter-Terrorism Committee, participated in the 19th meeting of the GCC Unified Terrorist List Committee, held last week at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Qatari delegation was headed by Brigadier Khalid Ali Al Kaabi, Secretary of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee.

The meeting discussed a number of agenda items related to strengthening cooperation and coordination among Gulf Cooperation Council member states in the field of counter-terrorism and adopted the appropriate recommendations. (QNA; Photo © Qatar’s Ministry of Defense/The Peninsula Qatar)
