Syrian Defense Minister Major General Murhaf Abu Qasra met in Doha with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss regional and international developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The meeting, attended by several military officers, also addressed issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
The talks followed an August 4 telephone conversation between the two ministers, during which they discussed regional and international developments, bilateral coordination and efforts to support regional security and stability.
Later, Minister Abu Qasra, accompanied by President of the National University for Defense Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Wael al-Khaled, and an accompanying delegation, visited Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani University for Military and Technical Sciences in Qatar.
During the visit, Abu Qasra met with university officials to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of military sciences, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
In the same context, Minister of Defense visited the headquarters of the Joint Special Forces Command of the Qatari Armed Forces, as part of efforts to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries, exchange expertise, and benefit from shared experiences in military training and qualification.
In another development, the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces HE Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai met with Chief of the General Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces Lieutenant-General Zsolt Sándor and his accompanying delegation in Doha on Monday.
The meeting discussed a number of topics of mutual interest as well as ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in military and defence spheres to further develop bilateral relations between the two sides. It was attended by a number of senior officials from both sides, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
For his part, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani also met with the visiting Chief of the General Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces and his accompanying delegation in Doha on Sunday.
The meeting discussed topics of mutual interest between the two sides as well as ways to strengthen and further develop them.
