His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan received on Sunday Commander of the Lebanese Army General ​Rodolphe Haykal.

During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan’s solidarity with Lebanon and its support of Lebanon’s efforts to preserve its security and sovereignty.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting, Petra news agency reported.

Moreover, Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti and Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Rodolphe Haykal on Sunday discussed boosting military and defence ties.

During the meeting, held at the General Command, Huneiti and Haykal went over aspects to expand military cooperation, coordination, and partnership between the armed forces of both countries, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.

The two sides reviewed the latest regional and international developments alongside issues of mutual concern, underscoring the importance of ongoing coordination to support regional security and stability.

Huneiti highlighted the “deep” relations between Jordan and Lebanon, emphasising the need to build on existing cooperation to enhance defence capabilities and serve regional stability.

For his part, Haykal commended the high level of efficiency and professionalism of JAF, praising its active role in maintaining security and stability, as well as its humanitarian and relief contributions regionally and internationally.

At the end of the visit, attended by senior army officers, the Lebanese commander signed the senior visitors’ book, expressing appreciation for the warm reception and pride in the strong bilateral ties. (Petra; Photo © Petra)
