Elements of the Egyptian Rangers and the Italian Special Forces conducted the joint exercise “IT-EGY-T-4”, focusing on combat operations in mountainous terrain. The exercise was held over several days in the Republic of Italy.
The training activities included a range of tactical and specialized drills, notably training on safe movement techniques in mountainous areas and operating across rugged terrain.
The participating elements also trained on mountaineering skills and rapid descent from elevated terrain under unconventional environmental and weather conditions, in addition to first aid and medical evacuation procedures across various emergency scenarios, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The exercise aimed to exchange expertise, further develop combat and specialized skills, and enhance the efficiency and readiness of the participating personnel to carry out special-skill missions with a high degree of proficiency and effectiveness.
The exercise comes within the framework of the Armed Forces’ commitment to strengthening military cooperation with their counterparts in brotherly and friendly countries.
Meanwhile, General Carmine Masiello, Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, received in Rome Major General Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), during his visit to the Italian Republic.
Both sides discussed areas of military cooperation between Oman and Italy and ways to enhance them, particularly in training, qualification, and capability development.
Additionally, the Commander of the Royal Army of Oman and his accompanying delegation visited a number of Italian Army units, and were briefed on their qualitative capabilities and the advanced systems and technologies they utilize, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
