Commander of Royal Army of Oman Meets Chief of Staff of Italian Army in Rome

Major General Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), met with General Carmine Masiello, Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, within the framework of his visit to the Italian Republic.

During the meeting, they discussed areas of military cooperation between the two sides and ways to enhance them, particularly in training, qualification, and capability development.

Additionally, the Commander of the Royal Army of Oman and his accompanying delegation visited a number of Italian Army units, and were briefed on their qualitative capabilities and the advanced systems and technologies they utilize, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), received at his office at Al Murtafaa Camp on Tuesday Lt. General Zac Stenning, Commander of the British Land Forces, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of military topics and exchanged views on matters of common interest.

Additionally, Brigadier Abdullah Hamad Al Harthy, Acting Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), also received at Al Murtafaa Camp Lt. Gen Zac Stenning, Commander of the British Land Forces, and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed topics of mutual interest.

In another development, the Omani-Pakistani joint military exercise (Mountain Lynx / 2) concluded Wednesday. It was conducted by the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), represented by the Southern Oman Battalion, alongside units of the Pakistani Army, and was held in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The participants carried out the practical demonstration of the exercise at the training grounds of the Pakistani Army, executing a number of joint military drills in the theater of operations and a range of field applications in accordance with the established exercise plans. During these, they demonstrated high levels of competence and combat readiness, as well as joint coordination and integration and the precise field execution of joint operation plans.

These joint exercises come within the framework of the annual training plans of the Royal Army of Oman to raise the level of training competence and readiness of its personnel, as well as to exchange military knowledge with the armed forces of Arab and friendly countries, thereby enhancing military integration and cooperation and achieving the desired training objectives.

The conclusion of the activities of the exercise (Mountain Lynx / 2) was attended, on the Omani side, by Brigadier Said bin Rashid Al Shukaili, Commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade of the Royal Army of Oman, and, on the Pakistani side, by Brigadier Raja Afzal Ahmed, Commander of the 104th Infantry Brigade of the Pakistani Army.

Lastly, the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) signed an agreement at the Specialized Air Training Center at A’Seeb Air Base for leasing ground handling equipment with the private sector, aimed at enhancing aspects of joint cooperation, elevating handling services, and facilitating their provision to beneficiaries.

The agreement, which was signed by the Commander of A’Seeb Air Base, comes within the framework of strengthening aspects of developmental partnership and cooperation between the Ministry of Defense, represented by the Royal Air Force of Oman, and the private sector.

Lastly, the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) and Dhofar University signed Monday a programme of cooperation to establish frameworks for academic and scholarly research.

The programme aims to enhance the quality of educational practices and developing mechanisms for institutional academic research.

The RAO was represented by the Sultan Qaboos Military College, at the Royal Army of Oman’ Academy.

The agreement was signed by the Commandant of the Sultan Qaboos Military College and the Vice-Chancellor of Dhofar University.
