His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, inaugurated on Wednesday (August 12, 2026) the 18th Arab Conference of Heads of Border, Airport and Port Security Agencies.
The Conference is attended by the Heads of border, airport and port security agencies in Arab countries, as well as the League of Arab States, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), Naif Arab University for Security Sciences and representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
The conference will discuss a number of important topics, including: the systems and methods used by member states in the field of linking and communicating between border crossings within the country, a mechanism for communication between national operations rooms for border security in Arab countries, the Council’s website said in a statement.
The Conference will also review the experiences of member states in the field of linking between border crossings within the country, as well as the experience of the State of Qatar in the field of dealing with border, airport and port security agencies with the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Following the conference, the second meeting of the joint committee of experts and representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Interior and relevant authorities in the Arab countries will be held to study the draft Arab agreement to combat unlawful acts of interference directed against the security and safety of civil aviation.
