As part of the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ keenness to maintain continuous communication with the Armed Forces’ personnel across all main branches and operational formations, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, met with personnel of the Air Defense Forces.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Commanders of the main branches, and a number of Armed Forces leaders, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Toudy, Commander of the Air Defense Forces, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the General Command of the Armed Forces’ commitment to equipping the Air Defense Forces with the latest combat systems, weapons, and equipment to secure Egypt’s skies across all strategic directions.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the personnel of the Air Defense Forces, expressing pride in the sincere efforts they exert in ensuring security and control over Egyptian airspace amid the current challenges facing the region.
He affirmed that the men of the Armed Forces fully understand the sacred duties entrusted to them in safeguarding Egypt’s national security, regardless of the sacrifices required.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces called upon the Air Defense personnel to continue rigorous and realistic training and to maximize the benefit from advanced air defense systems, enabling them to accomplish all assigned missions in defending the nation’s security and safeguarding its capabilities.
In another development, on the occasion of the celebration of Martyrs’ Day and Veterans’ Day, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, delegated Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, to lay a wreath at the Armed Forces Martyrs’ Memorial in Nasr City.
This comes as part of Egypt’s and the Armed Forces’ commemorations of Martyrs’ Day and Veterans’ Day, which coincides with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Field Marshal Abdel Moneim Riad, former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, on 9 March 1969.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, accompanied by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and commanders of the main branches, laid a wreath of flowers at the Unknown Soldier Memorial. Military bands then played the Martyrs’ Salute, after which he proceeded to recite Al-Fatiha at the tomb of the late leader Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, praying for the repose of his soul. At the conclusion of the ceremony, he greeted a number of Senior Armed Forces Commanders.
In the same context, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, delegated Commanders of the field armies and military regions to lay wreaths at the Unknown Soldier Memorials within their respective areas of responsibility.
