Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani met with Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom Wes Streeting in London on Tuesday.

The meeting discussed topics of mutual interest between the two sides, along with ways to strengthen and develop them.

During the meeting, an extension of the defence cooperation agreement between Qatar’s Ministry of Defence and UK’s Ministry of Defence was signed.

The agreement was signed on the Qatari side by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, and on the British side by Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom Wes Streeting.

The Deputy PM also met with Commandant of the UK Royal College of Defence Studies Sir George Norton. The meeting discussed issues of joint interest between the two sides and the means to enhance them, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The meetings were attended by Ambassador of Qatar to the United Kingdom HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, along with a number of senior officers and officials from both sides.

Earlier, HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani and his accompanying delegation visited the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, where they were received by Commander of the Academy Brigadier Nick Cowley.

During the visit, discussions were held on avenues for military cooperation between the two countries, as well as means of enhancing collaboration in the fields of academic qualification and training, alongside addressing a number of topics of mutual interest.
