On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, conducted an inspection visit to the Army Aviation Command, accompanied by the Assistant Chief of Staff of the Army for Operations, the Commander of the Ground Forces, and the official spokesman for the Ministry of Defense. They were received by the Commander of the Army Aviation and a number of officers of the Command’s staff.
Upon his arrival, His Excellency listened to a detailed briefing presented by the Army Aviation Commander about the work of the Command, which included the nature of the tasks and duties assigned to it, the level of readiness and preparedness, as well as the most prominent plans and programs adopted to develop the capabilities of Army Aviation.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Chief of Staff stressed the importance of raising the level of performance and readiness, and enhancing operational and technical capabilities, in order to ensure the efficient and effective execution of the tasks and duties assigned to the Army Aviation, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Earlier, under the patronage and in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, the National Defense University for Military Studies celebrated the graduation of the 28th War Course, the “Sovereignty Course,” on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The Chief of Staff was received by the University President, Deans of Colleges and Institutes, and Staff Officers. Also in attendance were the Commander of the Federal Police, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, the Deputy Chiefs of Staff for Operations and Training, Commanders of various branches of the Armed Forces, Directors of Departments and Divisions within the Ministry of Defense, the Director of the Center for Strategic Studies and Research, a representative from the Ministry of Peshmerga, and a representative from the Counter-Terrorism Service.
The Dean of the College delivered a speech welcoming the esteemed attendees, including Heads of Security Agencies, their Deputies, Commanders, and Branch Directors. He expressed his appreciation for their participation in the graduation ceremony, during which the graduates received instruction in various military curricula and sciences, qualifying them to be competent leaders capable of serving the esteemed military institution and assuming command positions and staff officer roles at both the operational and strategic levels.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chief of Staff of the Army distributed commemorative gifts to outstanding faculty members and graduates.
In the same context, the Chief of Staff conducted an inspection tour that included several service and vital facilities, as well as the ongoing rehabilitation and construction phases and the establishment of new halls that contribute to improving the work and training environment within the military institution.
