Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq received Tuesday Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, on the occasion of his visit to the Sultanate (photo).
During the meeting, both sides touched on the solid fraternal relations between Kuwait and Oman, as well as ways to enhance them in various fields, especially in the military and security aspects, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Kuwait to the Sultanate Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al-Hajri, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
The Kuwaiti guest also held discussions with Omani Minister of Interior Hamoud Al-Busaidi on Wednesday, focusing on enhancing security cooperation between Kuwait and Oman. The goal is to strengthen mutual interests and bolster security and stability in both nations.
The Kuwaiti Minister of Interior emphasized the deep relations between the two countries and praised the high level of security cooperation. Minister Al-Busaidi expressed appreciation for the alignment of views on security issues and highlighted the desire for further joint coordination to improve security for both nations.
Both sides also stressed the importance of exchanging expertise to enhance security forces’ capabilities and address potential threats to regional stability, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The Kuwaiti Minister also met with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs Shihab bin Tariq Al Said to explore further areas of cooperation. The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop strategies for regional security and stability.
On the same day, he visited the Omani Maritime Security Center, accompanied by Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al-Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces. During the visit, Sheikh Fahad was briefed on the center’s role in safeguarding maritime navigation and the environment within Oman’s territorial waters.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah visited Oman as part of a regional tour that included stops in Egypt, where he met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and Jordan where he met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II. While in Amman, Sheikh Fahad also met with the Ambassador of Kuwait to Jordan Hamed Al-Murri, and members of the Kuwaiti Embassy.
He praised the efforts of the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in strengthening the relations between the two brotherly countries, according to a statement by Kuwait’s Defense Ministry.
Sheikh Fahad also met with Kuwaiti Officers studying at Jordanian Military Colleges, commending their dedication and hard work in acquiring military and academic knowledge that contributes to preparing them to serve their country.
