Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), visited Wednesday the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.
At the start of the visit, the Chief of Staff received a briefing on the carrier’s functions, operations, capabilities, and assigned missions. He then toured the vessel, viewing its sections, advanced systems, and modern navigation equipment.
Lieutenant General Al Nuaimi commended the high level of the US Navy, noting that cooperation between the Royal Bahrain Naval Force (RBNF) and the US Navy reflects the close and longstanding ties between Bahrain and the United States.
He said such cooperation stems from the two countries’ partnership across various domains, particularly in military and defence, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
Earlier, His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Commander of the National Guard, received Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF).
Lieutenant General Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Khalifa, the National Guard Staff Director, was present.
The National Guard Commander commended the advanced cooperation between the National Guard and the BDF, which has resulted in the implementation of several command and operational exercises, as well as the exchange of expertise between the two sides. He also highlighted the BDF’s role in protecting the Kingdom’s borders and safeguarding its sovereignty.
The meeting discussed topics of mutual interest and reviewed efforts to enhance military cooperation and coordination between the two sides, to strengthen security and stability and protect national achievements.
Meantime, Commander of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Khalifa, the National Guard Staff Director, oversaw Tuesday the first virtual exercise carried out by the Guard’s units and battalions.
Senior Officers joined the National Guard Staff Director for a briefing on the exercise’s objectives, final preparations, and operational scenarios, as well as the state of readiness of National Guard formations to respond effectively in emergency situations.
The exercise featured multiple scenarios across various locations under the National Guard’s jurisdiction, including simulated crisis management situations and mechanisms for cooperation and coordination with the Kingdom’s security agencies.
It aimed to assess the competence of commanders, staff officers, and officers in preparing and following the sequence of planning and military decision-making processes, applying measures in line with operational requirements, and ensuring formations are able to keep pace with technological advancements in modern warfare. It also sought to enhance participants’ training in carrying out the different phases of the exercise to address current conditions and challenges.
Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Saud affirmed the National Guard’s ongoing commitment to implementing the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to maintain a fully prepared and capable force, ready to protect the Kingdom’s security, stability, and achievements against any threats.
At the end of the exercise, National Guard Staff Director met with the participants, conveyed the greetings of His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa, and praised their high morale, professionalism, and the strong performance demonstrated throughout the drill.
