The General Directorate of Saudi Border Guard concluded its Maritime Safety Awareness Exhibition Friday at the Mall of Dhahran in Eastern Region. The exhibition aimed to raise public awareness about proper maritime safety practices and discourage approaching non-designated swimming areas in order to prevent drowning incidents.

The Directorate informed visitors about the penalties for swimming in dangerous and prohibited areas, outlined essential safety guidelines for sea activities, and showcased its search and rescue operations, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

It also emphasized the importance of monitoring weather conditions and exercising caution during weather fluctuations.

In another development, the Transport General Authority of Saudi Arabia continues its efforts to develop national talent in the maritime sector, with 1,975 individuals enrolling in specialized training programs during the first half of 2025.

According to the Authority's annual statistical bulletin, 1,433 beneficiaries have already completed their training, while another 542 are still in the process. The programs are part of an integrated system designed to develop practical skills and enhance efficiency in line with international best practices.

These initiatives aim to achieve several strategic goals, including preparing qualified Saudi professionals to manage the maritime fleet and increase their participation in the sector, and ensuring the highest safety and quality standards, aligning with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
