Kuwait’s Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Army Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiaan, conducted an inspection tour of several key military sites on Saturday to evaluate combat preparedness and review field operations.
During the tour, Sheikh Abdullah (photo) underscored the imperative of sustaining peak operational efficiency, noting that rigorous readiness is fundamental to enabling the Kuwaiti Army to uphold its solemn duty of safeguarding national security and territorial integrity, according to press release by the Ministry of Defense.
The Minister praised the Armed Forces personnel deployed across various command posts for their steadfast dedication and high morale, urging personnel to maintain unyielding vigilance and professional excellence in service to the homeland, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
For his part, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah also conducted a field tour of several islands and maritime centers on Saturday to review operational readiness and procedures aimed at strengthening maritime border security.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef was received at the start of the tour by Director General of the Coast Guard Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah. During the tour, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef visited the port of Umm Al-Maradim Island, where he inspected the facilities of the Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Ports and the General Directorate of Customs.
He reviewed operational procedures and the coordination mechanisms among the agencies operating at the port, stressing the importance of integrated efforts and closer coordination to ensure efficient operations at maritime facilities. At Qaruh Island, the minister reviewed ongoing construction projects and directed that they be completed promptly in accordance with approved schedules. He also stressed the need to develop facilities and improve the working and living conditions of personnel by providing the resources and support required for them to carry out their duties effectively.
The tour also included Kubbar Island, where Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef inspected security arrangements and procedures in place to protect the island. He was briefed on the nature of field duties and the mechanisms used to carry them out. The Minister praised the efforts of Coast Guard personnel and their vital role in protecting Kuwait’s maritime borders and ensuring the safety and security of sea users.
During the tour, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef also met with citizens and sea users, listened to their views and observations on the services provided, and emphasized the importance of maintaining direct communication with them.
He stressed the need to take their suggestions into consideration as part of efforts to improve services and raise overall performance. The Minister directed the continued development of maritime centers and facilities, enhancement of operational readiness, and provision of all necessary resources for personnel.
He also called for stronger coordination and integration among agencies operating at ports and islands. These measures, he said, are aimed at enhancing the ability of relevant agencies to perform their duties efficiently and safeguarding the security and safety of Kuwait’s maritime borders.
Lastly, the National Committee for Kuwait’s Aviation Security and Facilitation held its regular meeting, chaired by President of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, to discuss strengthening security coordination and enhancing passenger facilitation at Kuwait International Airport.
PACA said that the meeting reviewed items on the committee’s agenda, with a focus on strengthening coordination among security agencies and entities operating at Kuwait International Airport, improving passenger facilitation measures and raising the efficiency of security oversight.
The committee also followed up on the implementation of travel facilitation systems and requirements adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of procedures at Kuwait International Airport.
The meeting further addressed recent international treaties related to civil aviation and discussed ways to update relevant laws and procedures in line with technological developments. Members stressed the importance of completing the necessary measures and implementing recommendations through continued coordination among the concerned authorities.
The meeting was attended by Ministry of Interior Undersecretary Lt General Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib, Kuwait Fire Force Chief Lt General Talal Al-Roumi, Director General of the General Administration of Customs Yousef Al-Nuwaif, and Air Force Commander Major General Pilot Fahad Al-Kharainj, along with officials from the Ministry of Interior and PACA.
