His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Tuesday issued two key decrees regarding senior appointments in the military and government. One decree promoted Major General Khaled Daraj Saad Al-Shuriaan to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him as Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army.
The Minister of Defense was tasked with implementing the decree, which takes effect immediately, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
In a separate decree, Dr. Khaled Amer Hamad Al-Ajmi was appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The Minister of Social, Family and Childhood Affairs will implement the decree, effective from the date of issuance, with publication in the official gazette.
In another development, Chief of Kuwait’s National Guard Sheikh Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Sunday decorated Major General Hamad Salem Al-Barjas with his new rank, following an Amiri decree promoting him to Lieutenant General and appointing him as Undersecretary of the National Guard.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. In a statement, the National Guard said Sheikh Mubarak congratulated Lt Gen Al-Barjas on his promotion and new post, praising his dedication and distinguished service throughout his military career.
