The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has hosted the first meeting of Arab maritime authorities, in coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), on the sidelines of the second Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference (SIMC25).

The meeting aimed to unify efforts and strengthen technical cooperation between Arab maritime authorities and the IMO, within the framework of developing joint programs and partnerships that enhance the efficiency of Arab maritime operations and support sustainability and sector development.

This hosting was led by Maritime Transport Deputy of Transport General Authority Eng. Essam Al-Amari, and Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the IMO Eng. Kamal Al-Junaidi, both of whom played a pivotal role in organizing this important meeting. The efforts were instrumental in creating an effective dialogue environment that enhanced coordination and integration among Arab authorities and opened avenues for regional and international cooperation.

The meeting forms part of SIMC25, a global platform that brings together leaders, decision-makers, and experts in maritime transport and logistics, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering innovation and promoting sustainable development in the maritime transport sector.

In another development, the Riyadh based Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) received Sunday a delegation from the Defense Services Command and Staff College of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh at its headquarters in Riyadh.

Assistant Military Commander of IMCTC Major General Abdullah bin Hamed Al-Qurashi welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of acquainting them with the coalition’s dedicated efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms.

The delegation was briefed on IMCTC’s mechanisms of action, including its strategic initiatives, training programs, and multifaceted efforts in counterterrorism. The visitors also toured the coalition’s headquarters, where they reviewed key publications, research, and studies conducted by IMCTC.

Additionally, the delegation was introduced to the latest developments concerning terrorist groups and global events, as well as the monitoring and tracking systems operated by the coalition’s specialized situation room.
