Egypt, Tanzania Sign Agreement to Exchange Expertise in Various Military Fields

General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, met with H.E. Ms. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, Minister of Defence and National Service of the United Republic of Tanzania, and her accompanying delegation.

An official reception ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense General Secretariat, during which the military band played the national anthems of both countries.

The meeting discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and explored ways to enhance military cooperation between the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized the depth of the historical ties and relations between the two countries and reiterated the Armed Forces’ keenness to further strengthen cooperation across various military fields.

For her part, the Tanzanian Minister of Defence and National Service expressed her appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting peace and stability across the African continent and looked forward to further joint cooperation in the coming period.

Following the meeting, both sides signed a cooperation agreement aimed at facilitating the exchange of expertise in various military domains.

The meeting and signing ceremony were attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces; Lieutenant General Salum Haji Othman, Chief of Defence Forces of Tanzania; Commanders of the main branches; a number of Senior Egyptian and Tanzanian Armed Forces Officers; as well as the Tanzanian Ambassador and Defence Attaché in Cairo.
