Nexter Munitions has signed a multiyear contract worth 139 million euros ($193 million) with the Direction Générale pour l'Armement (DGA) to supply 20mm, 25mm and 30mm combat and training ammunition, the company said in a Feb. 3 statement.
Nexter Munitions is a subsidiary of the Nexter Land Systems Group.
Under the deal, Nexter will deliver 1.88 million rounds up to mid-2016, ensuring continuity of supply. Some 1.14 million rounds already have been supplied under the previous multiyear contract, the company said.
"This global contract provides the French military with a guarantee of long-term ammunition supply",  the company said.
The deal would sustain the supply chain, manage obsolescence and allow an increase in deliveries in the event of a crisis, the company said.
