Fifteen Kuwaiti Land Forces officers have graduated from a one-year training course qualifying them for service with the Kuwaiti Navy at a ceremony held by the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Poland Saad Al-Muhaini, who congratulated the graduates and praised the efforts of the Polish Naval Academy in training and qualifying Kuwaiti military personnel.

In remarks reported by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Poland, Al-Muhaini expressed his appreciation for the Academy’s contribution to strengthening military cooperation between Kuwait and Poland and supporting the strategic ties between the two friendly countries.

He further stressed the importance of the naval forces sector as a vital strategic asset, particularly amid the security circumstances and challenges facing the region, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The Ambassador wished the graduates success in their military careers and urged them to uphold their national responsibilities and carry out their duties in defending Kuwait against external dangers and threats.

Al-Muhaini said the naval conversion course forms part of military cooperation between Kuwait and Poland that has continued for more than two decades, particularly in the fields of training and professional qualification.

The ceremony was attended by Polish Naval Academy President Rear Admiral Professor Tomasz Szupricht, Vice President for Military Affairs Commander S Dorotyn, and course supervisor Captain Mubarak Al-Ammari.

The Polish Naval Academy is the successor to the Naval Officers’ School, established in Toruń in 1922. The Academy educates officer-cadets, commissioned officers, and civilian undergraduate and graduate students, as well as doctoral students. It also offers opportunities for professional development in specialized courses and postgraduate programs.

Pursuant to international agreements, the Polish Naval Academy trains officers for navies of countries in Europe, North Africa, the Near East, and the Far East. International exchanges augment the knowledge of Polish Naval Academy staff and enable students to attend lectures by some of the best experts from leading academic centers in the world.

In addition to candidates for professional soldiers (cadets), the Academy educates officers and civilian students at four faculties:

  • Faculty of Navigation and Ship Armament
  • Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • Department of Maritime Command and Operations
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Academy currently employs 16 professors, 43 postdoctoral fellows, and 81 doctors. In recent years, an average of up to 8,000 students, trainees, and officers have been educated and trained at the Academy during the academic year.
