Jordan, Kuwait Discuss Strengthening Security Cooperation

King Abdullah II of Jordan, accompanied by Crown Prince Hussein, received Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, and his accompanying delegation on Monday during his official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

According to a press release from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense published by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Fahad conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, to King Abdullah II. He expressed their well-wishes for King Abdullah’s continued health and the prosperity of the Jordanian people.

The two leaders reviewed the strong relations between Kuwait and Jordan, discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in various fields to benefit both nations and their peoples. Several key issues of mutual concern were also addressed. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries.

Additionally, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef met with Jordanian Interior Minister Mazin Al-Farrayeh on Monday at the Ministry of Interior. The discussions focused on enhancing security cooperation between the two countries.

Sheikh Fahad emphasized the deep, historical ties between Kuwait and Jordan, noting that the meeting was part of ongoing consultations between their security leaderships. Both sides expressed their commitment to further developing collaboration across various security sectors.

According to a statement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, both sides agreed to invite relevant authorities to exchange visits and prepare executive programs for the recently implemented security agreement, aimed at strengthening security cooperation and developing effective policies to address various challenges.

Sheikh Fahad also underscored that security cooperation between Kuwait and Jordan is a cornerstone of regional stability, stressing the importance of continued joint efforts to enhance national security in ways that serve both nations’ interests and support development.

The meeting also focused on expanding cooperation in criminal justice, including the exchange of expertise in criminal evidence and the development of rehabilitation centers.

Minister Al-Farrayeh expressed his appreciation for the visit, commending the strong relations between the two countries and their shared views on a range of security issues. The meeting also covered ways to improve cooperation in crime prevention, criminal justice, and the exchange of security expertise. Senior security officials from both sides attended the meeting.

Director of Public Security Major General Obaidallah Maaytah and senior Jordanian Ministry officials also attended the meeting, Petra news agency reported.

Maaytah provided an overview of the Public Security Directorate's modernization efforts, aligned with the royal vision to improve security and stability. He highlighted significant advancements in Jordanian security agencies, including updated technical infrastructure and improved training programs to enhance human resources.
