Interpol President Visits Bahrain’s Interior Ministry

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, the President of Interpol, visited the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing at the Ministry of Interior in Bahrain.

The Interpol President was received by Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Director General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The delegation was briefed on the goals of the Alternative Sentencing and Open Prisons Project, which is one of the initiatives of The National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Value of Citizenship (Bahrainouna).

The delegation reviewed the achievements, training programmes and rehabilitation plans which will help to reintegrate the inmates into society.

The Interpol President also visited the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, where he was received by Brigadier Bassam Mohammed Al Maraj, the Director-General, and was briefed on the achievements of the Interpol and International Affairs Directorate and the latest programmes.

The Interpol President hailed the role of the Interpol and International Affairs Directorate and its efforts to combat crimes and track fugitives by introducing the latest security systems.

He visited the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing where he was received by Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Director General.

Major General Al Raisi commended Bahrain’s achievements in alternative sentencing and obtaining American accreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA), stressing the importance of cooperation between Interpol and the General Directorate in alternative sentencing.

In another development, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Interior Minister, received Director-General of Passports Lieutenant General Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al Yahya, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Civil Status in Saudi Arabia.

Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence and Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy Chief of Public Security Major General, were present.

The Interior Minister welcomed Al Yahya, hailing the relations between the two countries under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The meeting discussed cooperation and security coordination between the counterpart Ministries and development initiatives to enhance joint work.
