Qatar’s State Defense Minister Visits Turkey

Qatar’s Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, left Doha on Sunday heading to the Republic of Turkey on an official several-day visit, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

He was seen off upon departure by the Chief-of-Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim, and a number of senior officers of the Qatari Armed Forces.

Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah met separately on Monday with Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz (photo) and Chief of the General Staff General Necdet Ozel on the occasion of his current visit to Turkey.

The meetings reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the military affairs, and means of enhancing and developing them.

Qatar's Ambassador to Ankara Salem Mubarak Al-Shafi attended the meetings along with the delegation accompanying the Minister.

Meanwhile, the Chief-of-Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Pilot Ghanim bin Shaheen Al Ghanim met in Doha separately on Tuesday with Head of UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation Richard Paniguian and Turkish Gendarmerie General Command (JGK) Commander General Abdullah Atay.

Talks during the meeting dealt with matters of mutual concern.

Lastly, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani met in Doha Tuesday morning with Minister of Interior of the Republic of Turkey Efkan Ala and the accompanying delegation on the occasion of their visit to the country to participate in the 10th session of the International Exhibition for internal security systems (Milipol Qatar 2014).

During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing them, in addition to a number of topics of common interest.
