Under the gracious patronage of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated Tuesday the 15th edition of the Milipol Qatar Exhibition and Conference, the global event for internal security and safety.
The exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Interior, is taking place from 29-31 October 2024 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
The inauguration was attended by several Ministers and Senior Officials from the country, as well as guests including Ministers, Police Chiefs from various sisterly and friendly countries, Ambassadors, experts, specialists from around the world and leading international companies specializing in internal security.
After the inauguration, the Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, and the guests, toured various pavilions of the exhibition, where they viewed the latest equipment and devices displayed, as well as innovative services and systems in internal security and civil defence. They listened to explanations on the features of the new security systems, their roles, advanced technologies, and the nature of their integration and roles in enhancing internal security, as well as prevention and protection from crimes.
Furthermore, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) on Tuesday met with a number of Ministers of Interior from friendly countries participating in Milipol Qatar 2024.
The Minister of Interior met separately with Minister of Interior of Iraq Lieutenant-General Abdul Amir Kamel Al Shammari, Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Sadenov, Minister of Interior of Rwanda Dr. Vincent Biruta, and Minister Delegate for Everyday Security at the Ministry of Interior of France Nicolas Daragon.
During the meetings, several topics of mutual interest were discussed, along with a review of relations between Qatar and these countries, particularly in security fields, and ways to enhance them, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
Major-General Nasser bin Fahd Al Thani, Chairman of the Milipol Qatar Committee, emphasised Qatar’s dedication to integrating advanced technology within security frameworks to address evolving global threats.
He highlighted this year’s theme ‘Technology in the Service of Security’ as a reflection of Qatar’s national commitment to enhancing its technological capabilities in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Our focus remains on addressing security challenges through advanced, future-ready solutions,” he said, adding, “we are proud to facilitate discussions that bring experts and innovators together under one roof.”
The three-day event features 15 presentations covering a diverse range of security topics, including cybersecurity, civil defence, and border security. The programme provides a comprehensive platform for attendees to explore global security trends, exchange knowledge, and network with industry leaders.
A unique addition to this year’s agenda is a special international conference on Artificial Intelligence in Security, held on October 29-30, which will address ethical concerns, legal frameworks, and opportunities in AI-powered security.
Milipol Qatar 2024 has drawn over 250 companies from around the world, including six major national pavilions, showcasing the latest innovations in internal security technology. In addition to the indoor exhibits, an outdoor area is designated to display the MoI’sadvanced fleet of security vehicles.
The exhibition covers an expansive 23,000 square metres, making it one of the largest in Milipol’s history. This year’s event also welcomes a record-breaking 350 official delegations, comprising high-level figures such as security officials, government representatives, and industry experts.
Anne Frayssinet, Director of Milipol International Events, praised Qatar’s commitment to hosting such a pivotal event: “Milipol Qatar brings together governments, security industry leaders, and experts to address the rapid changes in global security dynamics. Our primary mission is to foster collaboration and present solutions that directly tackle these evolving challenges.”
