Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by several of its security and specialised departments, received a delegation from the Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral security cooperation and expand the exchange of expertise.

The Saudi delegation was headed by Major-General Dr. Ibrahim Satam Al Anzi, Director-General of the General Department of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Public Security, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

As part of the visit, the Saudi delegation toured the Correctional Institutions Department, the Judgments Enforcement Department, the Police Academy, the Juvenile Police Department, the Police Rescue Department (Al Fazaa), and the Capital Security Department to review best practices and exchange expertise across various areas of security and policing.

In another development, Saudi, Qatari and Omani Foreign Ministers discussed in separate phone calls on Monday the latest regional developments, diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions, and ways to enhance security and stability across the region.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi underscored the importance of continued coordination and consultation, as well as advancing joint diplomatic efforts to safeguard regional security and ensure the safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed with al-Busaidi the latest regional developments and efforts to promote de-escalation and stability across the region.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of commitment to dialogue and diplomacy and reaffirmed Qatar’s support for efforts aimed at easing tensions and ensuring lasting peace in the region.

Earlier on Sunday, the Qatari Minister separately discussed regional de-escalation efforts with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The talks come amid continued regional and international attention to navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s key maritime routes for energy shipments and global trade.
