Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Hunaiti held talks on Sunday with Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, at the Libyan General Command headquarters.

Discussions centered on expanding defense cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on military training, experience-sharing, and strengthening institutional capabilities.

The two sides also exchanged views on coordination and consultation over issues of common concern, aiming to advance shared interests and reinforce regional security and stability, Petra news agency reported.

Field Marshal Haftar extended his regards to His Majesty King Abdullah II, underscoring the strong ties and deep-rooted historical relations between Jordan and Libya, and praising Jordan’s role in promoting security and stability across the region.

Earlier this month, General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, met on 11 January with Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, during his visit to Egypt.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance military cooperation between the armed forces of both countries, as well as a discussion of the most prominent regional and international developments and their implications for security and stability in the region, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense reported.

In a related context, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, also met with the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army. An official reception ceremony was held in his honor at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, during which the national anthems of both countries were played by the military band.

The meeting reviewed a number of files and issues of mutual interest in light of supporting and strengthening bilateral military relations between the two sides.

The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces affirmed his pride in the deeply rooted relations linking the Egyptian and Libyan Armed Forces, noting the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to enhance cooperation across various military fields between the two brotherly countries. He also stressed the importance of joint efforts to confront all threats that could undermine the security and stability of the Libyan state.

For his part, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s supportive role toward the Libyan people in preserving the security and unity of Libyan territory, commending Egypt’s continuous efforts to establish the foundations of security and stability in the region.
