Egypt Receives Chief of Defense Staff of Gambia, Commander of Kenyan Navy

Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, met recently with Lieutenant General Mamat Cham, Chief of Defense Staff of Gambia, and the accompanying delegation during their visit to Egypt.

An official reception ceremony was held for the Gambian delegation at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, where the military bands played the national anthems of both countries.

The meeting addressed the latest regional and international developments and their impact on security and stability across the African continent, as well as ways to strengthen military cooperation between the Armed Forces of both sides, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces affirmed the depth of the partnership relations that bring together the Egyptian Armed Forces and their counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries, praising the growing prospects of cooperation between the two countries in a manner that serves their mutual interests across various military fields.

For his part, the Chief of Defense Staff of Gambia praised Egypt’s prominent role in reinforcing the foundations of regional security and stability, expressing his aspiration for further joint cooperation during the coming period.

The meeting was attended by a number of Armed Forces Commanders from both countries.

For his part, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Adel Fawzy, Commander of the Egyptian Naval Forces, received last week Major General Paul Owuor Otieno, Commander of the Kenyan Navy (photo), along with his accompanying delegation, during their official visit to the Egyptian Naval Forces in Alexandria, which lasted several days.

The visit included bilateral discussions between both sides on a number of issues and files of mutual interest, reflecting the depth of military relations and the shared commitment to enhancing cooperation across various fields.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Kenyan delegation toured the Naval Academy to review the comprehensive system employed in the preparation and qualification of cadets in accordance with the latest advanced educational and training methodologies. The delegation also visited a number of newly commissioned naval units to gain insight into the combat capabilities and advanced armament systems operated by the Egyptian Naval Forces.

In addition, the delegation visited Alexandria Shipyard to review the capabilities and expertise of the leading national company specialized in the construction and production of naval units.

The visit comes in affirmation of the Armed Forces’ continued commitment to consolidating military cooperation and exchanging expertise with brotherly and friendly countries in a manner that serves mutual interests and contributes to supporting security and stability throughout the region.
