On this occasion, General Chanegriha delivered a speech in which he welcomed the Commander of AFRICOM, emphasizing that his visit represents a further step in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

“First of all, I would like to welcome you and your delegation on your visit to Algeria, which undoubtedly represents a further step in strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly following the signing in January 2025 of the understanding memorandum in the field of military cooperation,” he said.

“In this regard, our countries are working towards deepening our strategic dialogue in order to promote our military cooperation, particularly through the implementation of this memorandum of understanding in all its dimensions and objectives, so as to lay the foundations for strong and lasting cooperation based on mutual respect and serving the interests of both countries,” General Chanegriha added.

He emphasized that Algeria, mandated by the African Union, is working to strengthen the mechanisms of the joint pan-African initiative, aimed at uniting efforts to eradicate terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms.

“Algeria, acting on a mandate from the African Union, is working to strengthen the mechanisms of the joint pan-African initiative aimed at uniting efforts to eradicate terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms. Thanks to this active and dynamic role, Algeria has been able to launch numerous initiatives at the continental level, adopting a multidimensional security approach to combat terrorism,” he noted.

“This approach is based primarily on the activation of an African financial fund dedicated to this objective, the establishment of an African list of individuals and entities involved in criminal activities, and the development of an African arrest warrant,” General Chanegriha explained.

“It is also worth mentioning the annual reports presented by Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, in his capacity as African Union Coordinator in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism,” he concluded.

For his part, General Dagvin Anderson expressed his satisfaction with his visit to Algeria and his desire to strengthen military cooperation.
