First responders needing mission-critical information while in the field or traveling to the scene of an incident now have a ruggedized tablet for transmitting and receiving data, video, voice, location and text-based information over public safety broadband networks. The BTC-100 ruggedized tablet from Harris Corporation leverages 700 MHz Long-Term Evolution (LTE) to meet the current and future needs of public safety agencies.
The Harris BTC-100 tablet delivers mission-critical information to first responders in real-time for instantaneous communication and coordination during day-to-day activities and emergency situations. The easy-to-use tablet provides an intuitive user interface based on the Android™ operating system. It features a compact, lightweight and ergonomic design for single right- or left-handed operation and is adaptable for multi-touch and gloved-hand use. With the Harris BeOn® application, users have push-to-talk voice capability for communication with traditional Land Mobile Radio and LTE networks, as well as location, presence and text services.
“The features and flexibility of the BTC-100 tablet make it an invaluable tool for use in any public safety situation. The BTC-100 tablet is unmatched for maximizing LTE technology, and it will transform how public safety agencies transmit and use data in the field,” said Greg Henderson, Director, Product Management, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications.
The Harris BTC-100 tablet features front- and rear-facing cameras and noise-cancellation technology to improve the quality of voice communications. The hardened rugged enclosure with sunlight readable display provides reliable operation in heat, cold and other extreme environments. The tablet also offers integrated Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi for added connectivity, GPS and internal sensors for location and movement tracking. The tablet includes an interchangeable, high-capacity battery for extended use.
The Harris BTC-100 tablet is designed for operation on LTE networks, as well as with the Harris VIDA® network, a unified IP-based voice and data communication platform. VIDA is interoperable with other P25 (Project 25) systems, including Harris LTE solutions, P25, P25 simulcast sites, P25 ISSI and P35 Voice and Data on Control. VIDA delivers full IP management features, including interoperability without intervention of console operators, IP consoles and other benefits inherent in open IP architecture systems.
