His Royal Highness Jordanian Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, met in Paris on Thursday with General Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the French Army.

The meeting touched on ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in various military operational, training, and logistical fields, in service of mutual Jordanian-French interests.

The Crown Prince, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, also visited the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group headquarters, and met with Commander Major General Ghislain Réty to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.

Earlier, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein, during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at Elysée Palace on Wednesday, discussed the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and France, as well as the latest developments in the region.

According to a royal court statement, the Crown Prince conveyed His Majesty’s greetings and appreciation to President Macron for France’s efforts to end the war on Gaza, and its role in mobilising international support for the recognition of the state of Palestine, Petra news agency reported.

The meeting covered ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation, as well as a review of existing partnerships.

His Royal Highness praised the strength of Jordanian-French relations, which span nearly eight decades, and commended France’s role in fostering partnerships between the private sectors of both countries, and its support to the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination Project.

On regional developments, the Crown Prince reiterated the need for increased efforts to achieve calm in the region, as well as just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

His Royal Highness affirmed Jordan’s support for Syria and Lebanon’s efforts to maintain their stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein and France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron attended part of the meeting.

The French President hosted an official luncheon in honour of the Crown Prince.

For his part, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Thursday discussed with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and developments in the situation in Gaza following the ceasefire agreement.

The two Ministers welcomed the agreement and stressed the need to adhere to its provisions. Safadi praised the efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey in reaching the ceasefire agreement.

Organized by Saudi Arabia and France, Safadi also highlighted importance of the Two-State Solution Conference held in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Safadi said the event mobilized a unified international position in supporting the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and an independent, sovereign state on Palestinian national soil, based on the two-state solution, commending the conference's statement issued on this issue.
