Qatar, U.K. Sign Security Cooperation MoU

The governments of the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding on security cooperation in a step aimed at enhancing friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

HE Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah signed the MoU on behalf of the Qatari side, while U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May represented her government.

A number of officials from both sides attended the signing ceremony.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Economy and Trade is organizing the Qatar-UK Economic Forum, which kicked off in British capital, London on Wednesday.

HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Minister of Economy and Trade delegation is chairing the Qatari side to the Forum which includes a number of businessmen, heads of State bodies and Government institutions as well as CEOs of major Qatari companies.

The Forum is held on the sidelines of the current visit of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani to the United Kingdom.

The Forum, which was opened by HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Minister of Economy and Trade, and Lord John. A, Minister of State for Defence, will discuss the cooperation between businessmen and companies in the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom in various areas, as well as developing partnerships in energy sector and promote joint investments at this level, in addition to the prospects of cooperation in the areas of research and development and innovation.
