Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held a talks session with Prime Minister of Spain Dr. Pedro Sanchez in Doha on Wednesday.
During the session, they discussed the cooperative ties between the two countries and the ways to support and enhance them, in addition to developments in the Gaza Strip and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The two sides underscored the significance of strengthening the regional and global efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and expedite the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to the strip, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Qatar appreciates the supportive positions of Spain for the endeavours aimed at achieving peace, security and stability in the region.
Following the session, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to forge a strategic dialogue between Qatar and Spain.
The PM signed the MoU for the Qatari side, while the Prime Minister of Spain signed for the Spanish side.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister of Spain also visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he was received in Jeddah by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations, and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest, SPA added.
Also on Tuesday, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan received the Prime Minister of Spain. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended the meeting, Petra news agency reported.
Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, the accompanying Spanish delegation, and Spanish Ambassador to Jordan Miguel de Lucas also attended the meeting.
