Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) received in his office at Al Murtafaa Camp Saturday General Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces (photo) and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed a set of military topics of mutual interest, the Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a brief statement.
Earlier, HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs also received in his office the visiting French Chief of Staff of the French and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting reviewed the advanced relations between Oman and France. The two sides also addressed the regional and international developments and exchanged views on means of enhancing the joint interests, in addition to discussing a set of topics of mutual interest.
For his part, General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office received the Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting reviewed the historical relations between Oman and France. It further addressed means of promoting the joint cooperation in a manner that maintains the security of the two countries.
Both meetings were attended by the Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and the French Ambassador to Oman.
Lastly, General Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces and his accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Maritime Security Centre (MSC) of Oman.
He was received upon arrival by Commodore Adel bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Head of the Maritime Security Centre.
During the visit, the guest and his delegation were given a briefing on the roles and responsibilities of the Maritime Security Centre, as well as its efforts to safeguard the safety and security of the environment and navigation within the maritime zones of the Sultanate of Oman. They also toured the Centre’s facilities and reviewed its advanced technologies and modern systems.
