Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, on Monday joined a tactical exercise by the 90th Mechanized Brigade (Martyr King Abdullah I Brigade), a unit of the Eastern Military Zone, at designated training fields.

Huneiti was briefed by the Zone’s Commander and Officers on the objectives and operational scenarios of the drill, dubbed “Neighing of the Warhorses”, part of combat training to address challenges in border areas.

It featured defensive scenarios of a battle using light and medium weapons, anti-tank weapons, mortars, reconnaissance and attack drones, as well as engineering demolition operations, Petra news agency reported.

The drill aimed to test the combat readiness of units and their capacity to plan and execute operations in conventional and unconventional warfare. It also assessed the effectiveness of support weapons in the field, the capacity to utilize and develop unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems and conduct information and psychological operations as well as dealing with electronic jamming.

Towards the end of exercise, the army chief met with participating troops and senior officers of the Jordan Armed Forces. He conveyed to them the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, commending their outstanding efforts, morale and discipline.

Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff also visited Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on Monday, where he was received by the Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

During the visit, Hunaiti was briefed by the Base Commander on key administrative, technical and operational developments.

The presentation included an overview of training and qualification plans, as well as updates on the implementation of development and modernisation projects currently underway within the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

Among the projects is the newly inaugurated air traffic control tower, equipped with state-of-the-art technological systems designed to enhance the efficiency of air operations management and strengthen flight safety standards.

He praised the high level of professionalism demonstrated by Royal Jordanian Air Force units, emphasising the continued support for advancing their human and technical capabilities to meet operational requirements and maintain readiness under all circumstances.

In a related development, Hunaiti inaugurated a new commercial complex at the Base, operated by the Loyalty Company for Armed Forces Personnel Services.

The facility provides catering and recreational services for base personnel and their families, contributing to improved working conditions and meeting the daily needs of service members.

This visit reflects the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces’ commitment to following up on field operations across its various units and formations and to continuously assessing the services provided to its personnel to promote development and enhance institutional performance.
