Iraq’s Chief of Staff Conducts Inspection Visit to Military Training Directorate

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, conducted an inspection visit to the Military Training Directorate, accompanied by the Secretary of Training for the Army Chief of Staff. He was received by the Director of the Military Training Directorate and a number of staff officers.

Upon his arrival, His Excellency listened to a detailed briefing presented by the Director of the Directorate, during which he reviewed the nature of the tasks and duties assigned to the Directorate, the mechanisms for implementing training plans and programs, as well as the level of achievement within the prescribed curricula and plans.

The briefing also addressed the most prominent training activities implemented, and the efforts made to raise the level of training and qualification of army personnel, in line with the requirements of military work and the continuous development in modern training methods, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

During the visit, the Chief of Staff of the Army was briefed on the progress of work in the Directorate, and listened to a number of observations related to training aspects, directing the need to continue developing curricula and training programs, and to benefit from modern experiences and expertise in the field of training and qualification.

He stressed the importance of training as the basic pillar in building and developing military capabilities, and emphasizing the need to raise the level of performance and efficiency, and to enhance the readiness of army units, enabling them to carry out the various duties and tasks assigned to them with efficiency and competence.

Meanwhile, in accordance with the directives of the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army to enhance the efficiency of units and develop the training system, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Training, Major General Ghalib Muhammad Kamar, conducted a field inspection visit to the training units of the 3rd Battalion, 93rd Infantry Brigade, 16th Division, within the Mosul Training Center.

He reviewed the training curricula, the physical and combat readiness of officers and enlisted personnel, and observed the implementation of specialized training exercises and tactical shooting drills.

In an address to the troops, the Deputy Chief of Staff emphasized that continuous training is the backbone of the Iraqi Army, given its direct impact on boosting morale and honing skills in weapons handling and maintenance. He stressed that mastering training is the key to winning battles with minimal losses and maximum combat efficiency.

He also directed the continued updating of training programs and the provision of necessary resources to ensure improved performance, thereby strengthening the Armed Forces’ ability to execute their various assigned missions efficiently and effectively.
