The Chief of Staff of Iraq’s Army’s, General Abdul-Amir Rashid Yarallah, chaired last week the Army Staff Council Meeting No. 15 for 2025, attended by the Senior Secretary of the Army Staff, Deputy Chiefs of Staff, the Inspector General, branch commanders, heads of directorates, and relevant department directors.
The meeting included a review of the key agenda items presented by the Council Secretary, including the status of wounded and sick soldiers and the mechanisms for addressing their needs in accordance with applicable laws. The attendees shared observations and recommendations, which were discussed extensively and then voted upon by the council members.
The Army Chief of Staff directed the participants to complete pending investigative reports, urged commanders to meet regularly with soldiers to address their concerns, and emphasized the role of media departments within commands and divisions in covering such activities, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Earlier, as part of his inspection tours, the Army Chief of Staff, General Abdul-Amir Rashid Yarallah, visited Al-Habbaniyah Air Base accompanied by the Deputy Chief for Operations and the Commander of the Ground Forces (photo).
He was received by the Commander of Anbar Operations, the Base Commander, the Commander of Army Aviation, the Commander of the 10th Infantry Division, and the Directors of Military Engineering and Military Construction.
Upon arrival, the Army Chief of Staff listened to a detailed briefing about the base, its facilities, and future plans, including the rehabilitation of the runway and key operational requirements. He toured the headquarters, inspected administrative and technical departments and infrastructure, and directed the concerned directorates to complete and rehabilitate the buildings to ensure their full utilization.
For his part, the Commander of the Iraqi Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Qasim Mohammed Saleh Al-Muhammadi, chaired a virtual conference with several operations and division commanders.
The conference discussed key issues, foremost among them the follow-up and implementation of security and coordination plans for the 2025 parliamentary elections in coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission, and reviewed preparations to secure this constitutional event.
The meeting emphasized unifying efforts, strengthening joint coordination among all entities, ensuring the implementation of planned measures, facilitating citizens’ access to polling centers smoothly, and ensuring the field presence of all security commanders during the elections.
