The Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, attended the “Heroes of Iraq” tactical exercise, supervised by the Minister of Defense, Thabit Al-Abbasi, and the Army Chief of Staff, General (Special Forces) Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah.
The exercise took place in the Al-Tash area with the participation of an armored division and a special forces brigade, supported by the Air Force, Army Aviation, and Air Defense.
The exercise demonstrated high professionalism, precise coordination among all supporting units, and strong morale among the troops, reflecting the continuous training and readiness of the Iraqi Army, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The Commander-in-Chief praised the forces’ performance, emphasizing the importance of sustaining training to maintain high combat readiness. The Army Chief of Staff also commended all participating units, stressing their vital role in defending Iraq’s air and land and the need to keep pace with modern technology in building an advanced air defense system.
In another development, as part of the government program set by the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and in continuation of the reconstruction and development campaign for military institution facilities, the Minister of Defense Thabit Muhammad Al-Abbasi visited last week the Military College headquarters in Rustamiya.
The Minister conducted a field tour during which he reviewed the different sections and facilities of the College, following up on the comprehensive reconstruction campaign underway there.
Lastly, specialized Iraqi military teams arrived in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to take part in the 14th Annual Worrier Competition held from 5 to 9 October 2025.
The Iraqi delegation included representatives from elite units of three key Iraqi security institutions: the 1st Iraqi Special Forces of the Ministry of Defense, the Counter-Terrorism Service, and the Rapid Response Forces Command of the Ministry of Interior.
The Iraqi teams were received by staff from the Iraqi Military Attaché in Jordan to begin preparations for their participation in competition, which aims to test combat skills, physical fitness, and tactical proficiency.
Each year, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) invites Jordanian and international teams, from Special Operations Forces and Law Enforcement Units, to participate in the Warrior Competition and compete in a series of challenging events designed to test their skills and endurance, according to King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center – KASOTC.
