Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, accompanied by his delegation, returned to the homeland following the conclusion of his official visit to the Republic of Türkiye earlier this month.
An official reception ceremony was held in his honor, including a guard of honor, while the military bands played the national anthems of both countries.
Lieutenant General Zaher met with Mr. Yaşar Güler, the Turkish Minister of Defense. The meeting addressed ways to strengthen military cooperation in the fields of training, as well as the transfer and exchange of expertise between the Egyptian and Turkish Armed Forces.
The two Ministers co-chaired a high-level meeting, at the conclusion of which they signed a Letter of Intent to enhance defense cooperation between the two sides, the Eyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces visited the mausoleum of the late President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Türkiye, and laid a wreath at his tomb. Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher also met with the President of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency to discuss avenues for joint cooperation and attended a presentation on the Agency’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
The President of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency and the Director of Military Intelligence also signed a Letter of Intent to support prospects for cooperation in the field of defense industries, contributing to the enhancement of regional security and the development of joint capabilities between the two countries.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher also visited the headquarters of a number of leading Turkish companies specializing in defense industries to review the latest technologies and military equipment produced by these companies and explore avenues for joint cooperation. These efforts aim to enhance opportunities for the exchange of expertise in military manufacturing between the two friendly countries and support regional security and stability.
