Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, met with General Khaled Haftar, Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, and his accompanying delegation currently visiting Egypt.
An official reception ceremony was held at the Ministry of Defense Headquarters, where the military band played the national anthems of both countries.
The meeting addressed a number of issues of mutual interest, as well as ways to strengthen and enhance military and security cooperation between the Egyptian and Libyan Armed Forces, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces highlighted the deep historical ties binding the two brotherly peoples, stressing the importance of continued coordination and unified efforts to confront common challenges and support the foundations of security and stability across all Libyan territories.
For his part, the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army expressed his profound appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast and supportive positions towards the Libyan people, noting his aspiration that the coming stage will witness further joint cooperation between the Armed Forces of both countries.
