The President of the Algerian Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence presided over the ceremony for the awarding of ranks and medals to a number of General Officers, Senior Officers, and civilian personnel at the People’s Palace. This ceremony was part of the commemorative celebrations for the 64th anniversary of independence and the recovery of national sovereignty.
The President of the Republic, accompanied by the Minister of National Defence, oversaw the awards ceremony, during which several Generals were promoted to the rank of Major General, Colonels to the rank of General, and several Senior Officers were promoted. In addition, medals were also awarded to a number of military officers and civilian personnel.
Those who participated in the ceremony included the President of the Council of the Nation, the President of the National People’s Assembly, the Prime Minister, the President of the Constitutional Court, members of the government and advisors to the President of the Republic, the Algerian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The Director General of the National Institute for Global Strategic Studies, the Lieutenant General Commanding the Land Forces, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, the Force Commanders, the Chief of the Ministry of National Defence Staff, the Heads of Departments, and the Directors and Heads of Central Services of the Ministry of National Defence and the General Staff of the People’s National Army, also attended this event.
The Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of the People’s National Army Staff, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the organization of this solemn ceremony, at the heart of the celebrations of the sixty-fourth anniversary of Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty, illustrates the strong bond that unites the People’s National Army, the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army, to its past rich in glories and heroic deeds.
“On this auspicious occasion, I have the honour to express to you, Mr. President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, on my own behalf and on behalf of all the personnel of the PNA, our sincerest thanks and gratitude for having presided over the ceremony for the awarding of ranks and medals to the officers of the People’s National Army,” he said.
“This high mark of esteem reflects the particular interest you have in our valiant Army, its officers, and its personnel. It undoubtedly motivates us to redouble our efforts to continue the modernization of our forces in all areas and at all levels.
This solemn ceremony, which takes place at the heart of the celebrations of the sixty-fourth anniversary of Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty, illustrates the strong bond that unites the People’s National Army, the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army, with our country's rich past, marked by glory and heroic deeds. It also testifies to our determination to fiercely defend the legacy of the martyrs and to strengthen the systemic resilience of Algeria, a land of dignity.
This historic date will remain a source of inspiration for our Army, which will continue to fulfil its constitutional missions under the high leadership of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence,” he added.
The Chief of the People’s National Army Staff further emphasized that Algeria, strengthened by the enduring bond that connects it to its glorious history, has confidently, resolutely, and sovereignty charted the course of a promising future and taken its rightful place within the community of nations.
“It is in the spirit of this enduring bond and thanks to the policies of the President of the Republic that a new and triumphant Algeria has confidently, resolutely, and sovereignty charted the course of a promising future and taken its rightful place within the community of nations, where it has established itself as a reliable international partner, a key player in regional stability, and a centre of geopolitical influence.
Within the People’s National Army, we are determined to join our efforts with those of patriotic men and women from all sectors in order to contribute actively to this promising process of renewal. We will do so by creating the security conditions necessary to support the expected economic recovery, while continuing to develop military manufacturing, whose contribution to the diversification of the national industrial base is undeniable,” he stressed.
