By a Royal Decree announced on May 19th, 2014, Major General Dr. Omar Al Khaldi, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) following the resignation of Mr. “Shadi Ramzi” Al Majali.
For the past 34 years, Major General Al Khaldi has built a solid background and practical experience in the technical, logistical, managerial as well as safety and quality policies in the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), as well as a vast experience in various fields of Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Maintenance.
Most recently, Dr. Al Khaldi was Chief of Staff of Strategic Planning, Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), where he formalised the arming policy, budgetary and resources planning, establishment of equipment acquisition strategy, organised the digital battlefield capability transformation, International Bilateral Military Cooperation Programs, and managing the Directorate of Strategic Planning, Directorate of Information Technology, and Department of Defence Studies.
Other major positions that Major General Al Khaldi held earlier in his career were; Director of JAF Department of Defence Studies, Cr1 MBT Liaison Officer, UK/ London Office, H.R.H Prince Abdullah Advisor/ H.R.H Prince Abdullah Office, Workshops Manager/ Royal Special Forces Workshops, Manufacturing Manager/ Prince Faisal Workshops (Utility Vehicles), Quality Control Manager/ King Hussein Main Workshops, Field workshops Manager/ Divisional Workshop (Mechanized), Main Workshops Assistant Manager/ Amman Central Workshops, Field Workshop Manager/ Divisional Workshop (Command), Filed workshop assistant manager/ Divisional Workshop (Tanks), as well as an Engineering Cadet/ UK.
Born in 1959, Al Khaldi attended Chelsea College for Auto & Aero Engineering (UK), where he earned a Diploma in Auto Engineering, then a Certificate in Mathematics for Engineers from Jordan University. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University (USA), followed by PhD. in Engineering Management from Brunel University (UK).
Major General Dr. Omar Al Khaldi was Vice Chairman for KADDB’s Board of Directors, and also headed and was a member of numerous procurement, evaluation and assessment committees, and has outstanding project management experience in several recognized projects. Dr. Al Khaldi believes in continuous personal development and human capacity building, as he has received extensive trainings in various engineering, logistics, maintenance, and management, and has attended conferences, seminars and forums to build on his fields of expertise.
Established in 1999, KADDB is an independent government entity within the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) that aims to be the globally preferred partner in designing and developing defense products and security solutions in the region.
The scope of work conducted by the Bureau covers the full spectrum of Defense Design and Development, Test and Evaluation, Technology Incubation in the Kingdom, as well as Defense Technology Training.
