The Board of Directors of RUAG has appointed Rita Baldegger as the new Head of Corporate Communications and a member of the extended Executive Board.

After completing a course in Chinese studies, the certified communications specialist worked as a media correspondent in Beijing for several years. Following this she spent eight years as Head of Communications at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), among other positions.

The experienced communications expert holds a degree in Chinese studies, modern history and international law from the University of Zurich. In addition to Chinese, Rita Baldegger is also fluent in written and spoken English and French. She is currently responsible for internal and external Corporate Communications at Switzerland Global Enterprise, previously known as Osec.

Prior to this, she headed the Communications Department of SBB's Infrastructure division, was a member of the Management Board, and headed a team of 20 employees. Before that, she was responsible for integrated overall communications at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) for a period of eight years.

After completing her studies, Rita Baldegger initially worked as a journalist for the St. Galler Tagblatt, reporting on local politics, economics and culture. She then spent four years as a research associate in the Chinese library at the University of Zurich, before relocating to Beijing for around five years to work as a correspondent for well-known newspapers in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Rita Baldegger will take up her new position in February 2014. She will take over from Jiri Paukert, currently Interim Head of Corporate Communications, who will again focus on managing the Media Relations & PR unit.

In her role as Head of Corporate Communications at RUAG, Rita Baldegger and her team will be responsible for continuing the internal and external communications strategy and supporting international growth through the medium of communication. She will work closely together with the five divisions to promote a consistent and preference-building company profile.

Rita Baldegger lives in Lütisburg, Canton of St. Gallen. In her free time she likes to ride, and is currently training as an equine assisted personal development trainer.
