Kuwait’s Deputy Defense Minister held talks with senior French military officials during his visit to Paris last week, where discussions focused on defense cooperation and regional issues of mutual interest.
According to a statement from Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense, representing Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshal Al-Sabah met several senior French officials while attending the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition in the French capital which took place on 15-21 June 2026.
The meetings included talks with Alice Rufo, the French Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, as well as General Vincent Giraud, Chief of Staff to the President of France and the President’s Military Adviser for defense and national security affairs.
During the meetings, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah conveyed greetings from Kuwait’s Defense Minister to officials at France’s Ministry of the Armed Forces and expressed appreciation for the reception and hospitality extended to the Kuwaiti delegation, the statement said, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The discussions reviewed what the Ministry described as the strong bilateral relationship between Kuwait and France and explored ways to strengthen cooperation in defense and military fields.
he two sides also exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest as part of efforts to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“The State of Kuwait is keen to continue strengthening relations of cooperation and strategic partnership with the friendly French Republic in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two friendly countries,” Sheikh Dr. Abdullah said.
The meetings were attended by Kuwait’s Ambassador to France Abdullah Al-Shaheen and Head of Armament and Equipment Authority Brigadier General Khalifa Duaij Al-Sabah.
The Ministry said Sheikh Dr. Abdullah and the accompanying delegation also toured the Eurosatory exhibition, where they reviewed the latest developments in defense industries and military technologies. They also met representatives from several international defense companies and institutions participating in the event.
At the conclusion of his visit, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah met Ministry personnel receiving medical treatment in France. He said the Ministry remained committed to monitoring their health conditions and maintaining regular contact with them, while wishing them a speedy recovery.
In another development, the Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraian on Thursday received Director of Operations of the Pakistan Army Brigadier Naveed Qalb Abbas and his accompanying delegation during their official visit to the country.
In a press statement, the General Staff said the meeting reviewed bilateral relations between Kuwait and Pakistan, as well as ways to further enhance military cooperation between the two sides in a manner that serves mutual interests.
The discussions also covered areas of defense collaboration and prospects for developing joint coordination and exchanges in relevant military fields.
