SOFEX (Special Operations Forces Exhibition & Conference) has been the premier meeting ground for global defense leaders since launching in 1996. Nevertheless, for 2026, the event is breaking its own mold.
Under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, The Supreme Commander of The Armed Forces, SOFEX is returning to the Aqaba International Exhibition and Convention Center on 27-29 October 2026 with exciting new changes that bridge the gap between high-level military strategy and public engagement.
Here are seven new features SOFEX 2026 is introducing this year:
- The New Elite Badge
Bridging the gap between a standard visitor and an official military delegation, the new Elite Badge offers a premium experience for industry professionals. This badge grants “VIP” status to those who aren’t part of a formal military invite list but still require a higher level of access and benefit. It is essentially an industry-focused pass that ensures serious participants can navigate the event with the prestige and efficiency they need.
- MESOC Opens to the Public
The Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference (MESOC) has long been the crown jewel of the event’s first day, but it was historically reserved for military attendees. This year, the conference is opening its doors to the public, allowing ticket holders to attend high-level panels. Attendees can now listen directly to special operations leaders from around the world as they discuss technical and strategic topics that shape global security.
- The VR Shooting Range Experience
While the event has always featured impressive live demonstrations, 2026 marks the introduction of a high-tech VR Solutions Zone which will comprise of a Laser Shooting Range and a Kill House. This virtual experience is fully available to the public, offering a safe yet realistic way to test out modern tactical gear. Located along the main aisle, adjacent to the JODDB Pavilion.
- A Dedicated Cybersecurity Zone
Reflecting the modern reality of warfare, SOFEX has established a brand-new Cybersecurity Zone as a core pillar of the 2026 event. This zone highlights the heavy investment being made in protecting digital borders and intelligence networks in the face of digital threats. It serves as a specialized hub for exhibitors and experts to showcase the cutting-edge technology required to win the digital wars of the 21st century.
- A Digital Match-Making Program
To ensure that no networking opportunity is missed, SOFEX 2026 is introducing a sophisticated match-making program through its new exhibitor portal. This system acts as a professional bridge, connecting exhibitors with the right investors, delegates, and suppliers. Instead of relying on chance meetings, participants can now use this technology to coordinate strategic partnerships and direct-access meetings before they even arrive on the floor.
- New Pavilions and More Global Participation
The exhibition’s global footprint is reaching new corners of the map this year. SOFEX is introducing several new pavilions and participating countries that have never been represented at the event before. This expansion reinforces the event’s position as a truly international hub for Special Operations Forces, bringing in fresh defense perspectives and innovative technologies from an even wider array of global players.
- Bigger Exhibition Space
As the defense industry grows, so does the venue. The total exhibition space at the Aqaba International Exhibition and Convention Center has been significantly increased for 2026 to accommodate a record-breaking level of interest. This larger footprint provides more room for massive hardware displays and ensures that the influx of delegates and visitors can explore the latest defense innovations without the crowd-fatigue of smaller venues.
SOFEX 2026 will kick off on 26 October with the MESOC Conference, followed by the full exhibition from 27-29 October. Held at the Aqaba International Exhibition and Convention Center, the organizers expect over 400 delegates from more than 80 represented countries, with 40 countries officially exhibiting their latest air and land capabilities.
