Commander of Iraqi Air Force Visits Pakistan Air Force, GIDS Headquarters

The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force, Lieutenant General Pilot Muhanad Ghalib Mohammed Radi al-Asadi, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Pakistan Air Force in Islamabad, leading a high-level delegation and accompanied by Iraq’s Military Attaché in Pakistan.

The delegation was accorded an official ceremonial welcome by Pakistan Air Force formations, followed by a meeting with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, Commander of the Pakistan Air Force, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the deep religious and historical ties between Iraq and Pakistan and highlighted the importance of strengthening military cooperation between the two air forces, particularly in training, capacity building, exchange of expertise, and conducting joint exercises to enhance readiness and operational harmony.

The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force praised the significant progress achieved by the Pakistan Air Force in technology and training, affirming Iraq’s determination to benefit from these experiences in restructuring and developing its air training system in line with the latest global models.

For his part, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Iraqi Air Force in training and capacity-building programs, expressing his country’s readiness to expand military cooperation in ways that serve the common interests of both armed forces.

Later, The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force and his accompanying delegation visited the headquarters of the Pakistan Defense Industries Group (GIDS), affiliated with the Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ), in the presence of the Iraqi Military Attaché in Islamabad.

He was received by senior officials of the joint staff and the defense industries group, where they discussed prospects for military and technical cooperation and the exchange of expertise, as well as reviewed the group’s advanced manufacturing and technological capabilities.

The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with friendly Pakistan in ways that would contribute to developing the capabilities of the armed forces and enhance training, technical support, and the sharing of expertise.
